Global Change Master Directory, US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)

Our goal is to enable users to locate and obtain access to Earth science data sets and services relevant to global change and Earth science research. The GCMD database holds more than 25,000 descriptions of Earth science data sets and services covering all aspects of Earth and environmental sciences. Datasets covers diverse topics: Agriculture, Atmosphere, Biological Classification, Biosphere, Climate Indicators, Cryosphere, Human Dimensions, Land Surface, Oceans, Paleoclimate, Solid Earth, Spectral/Engineering, Sun-Earth Interactions, and Terrestrial Hydrosphere. The mission of the Global Change Master Directory is to offer a high quality resource for the discovery, access, and use of Earth science data and data-related services worldwide, while specifically promoting the discovery and use of NASA data. The directory resource is targeted to serve as a valued location for sharing data from multinational sources and, in turn, will contribute to scientific research by providing stewardship of metadata and direct access to Earth science data and services. We encourage your participation in writing and maintaining the information in our databases. Subscription services are available to notify you of new entries. The Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS) International Directory Network (IDN) Interoperability Forum is available to discuss content and database issues.
