Chromosome-Level Genome Assembly and Annotation of Curcuma alismatifolia Gagnep.

Curcuma alismatifolia Gagnep., a monocotyledonous perennial belonging to the Zingiberaceae family, is widely cultivated as an ornamental Curcuma in world. In this study, we presented the first chromosome-level genome assembly of C. alismatifolia by combination of DNBSEQTM, PacBio and Hi-C sequencing data. We showed that C. alismatifolia has 16 chromosomes with a total length of 991.3 Mb and a N50 length of 56.7 Mb. We annotated 33,902 protein-coding genes, 8,161 noncoding RNAs, and 702.5 Mb repeat sequences in the genome. BUSCO analyses using the embryophyta_odb10 data set showed that 88.8% of genes were complete. A total of 27,808 genes of C. alismatifolia were assigned to 12,888 gene families. Among them, 1,376 and 754 gene families underwent expanded and contracted, respectively. This chromosome-level genome provides a valuable resource for genetic research and molecular breeding of C. alismatifolia in future.
