Tourism management in the Gesäuse National Park region

This diploma thesis deals with the management of tourism development in national park regions. The background is the high importance of tourism for the development of structurally weak rural regions. In the current scientific discussion, in particular large protected areas, especially national parks, receive increased attention in this context. They offer enormous potential for the tourist development of the surrounding regions. However, the high value of nature conservation in national parks provides a framework for the nature and extent of tourism development. In order to achieve national park-oriented and competitive, i.e. sustainable tourism development, national park regions face the challenge of achieving a balance between tourism and nature conservation.
