Child sarcophagus

This is a child sarcophagus from Baalbeck, Lebanon. It is decorated with two gorgon heads. In Greek mythology, a gorgon is a female creature, commonly understood to have venomous living snakes for hair and the ability to turn people to stone with her eyes. The famous Medusa is one of the three main gorgons.此为出土于黎巴嫩巴勒贝克（Baalbeck）的孩童石棺。该石棺以两枚戈耳工（gorgon）头像作为装饰。在希腊神话中，戈耳工是一种女性怪物，通常被设定为以带有剧毒的活蛇作为发丝，且拥有用双眼将他人化为石像的能力。大名鼎鼎的美杜莎便是三位主要戈耳工之一。
