Dataset: Bivalvia species checklist from the Gulf of Mexico

Here we update the bivalve checklist of Turgeon et al. (2009) using recent literature, describe species distributions across two biogeographical regions. We list a total of 551 species of Bivalvia that belong to 295 genus, 76 families, and 18 orders. The compilation came from 53 peer-reviewed papers published between 2009 and 2020.本研究依托近期发表文献，更新了Turgeon等人（2009）的双壳类物种名录，并梳理了两个生物地理区域内的物种分布特征。本次汇编共计收录双壳纲（Bivalvia）物种551种，隶属于18目、76科、295属，所有数据均来自2009至2020年间发表的53篇同行评议论文。
