Full-length genome sequencing of Arthrospira platensis NIES-39

Arthrospira platensis is an edible filamentous cyanobacterium that has been cultured and used worldwide as a source of food and food additives. Although the strain NIES-39 is one of the model strains of this cyanobacterium, the available genome sequence data still contain many gaps, probably because the genome of this cyanobacterium contains a high number of repetitive sequences that interferes with the assembly of sequences obtained by short-read sequencing. This project aims to obtain the full-length sequence of the NIES-39 strain without gaps using long-read shotgun sequencing data.
