2017 Bilby Tracks

Bilby Tracks is a citizen science program operating inside the Bilby Fence - a predator- exclusion area at Currawinya National Park in western Queensland.
By engaging citizen scientists we are able to conduct regular animal and habitat surveys and monitoring in this remote area.
This work is required before bilbies can be re-released and become a semi-wild insurance population.

Citizen scientists will be provided with all the necessary training and guidance from experienced researchers and fieldwork experts to participate in the following types of activities.

conducting transect surveys and monitoring sand traps for animal tracks and other signs
spotlighting surveys at night
refining habitat and vegetation monitoring and surveying methods
testing field equipment
There will be talks at night by researchers, rangers and experts with local knowledge on the natural history, conservation and ecology of the region.

兔耳袋狸追踪项目（Bilby Tracks）是一项依托兔耳袋狸围栏（Bilby Fence）开展的公民科学项目，该围栏坐落于昆士兰州西部的库拉温亚国家公园内，是一处食肉动物防护区域。
通过吸纳公民科学家参与，本项目得以在这片偏远区域开展常态化的动物与栖息地调查及监测工作。此类工作是兔耳袋狸（bilby）实现重新野化、建立半野生保险种群的必要前提。
公民科学家将由经验丰富的研究人员与野外作业专家提供全套必要培训与指导，从而参与以下各类活动：开展样带调查与沙陷阱监测，记录动物足迹及其他活动痕迹；开展夜间灯光调查；优化栖息地与植被监测及调查方法；测试野外作业设备。
晚间还将安排研究人员、护林员及具备本地自然历史知识的专家开展讲座，内容涵盖该区域的自然史、保护工作与生态学相关内容。
