<p>Culture studies of diatoms that dominate spring blooms in the Santa Barbara Channel were used to examine the effects of N and Si stress on the magnitude of production and the chemical composition of DOM (see the <a href=\"http://www.bco-dmo.org/dataset/518427\">BIB Experiments</a> dataset). The ability of natural assemblages of bacteria to utilize DOM produced under Si and N limitation was then assessed using remineralization experiments. Species examined in the remineralization experiments include: <em>Skeletonema marinoi</em>, <em>Chaetoceros socialis</em>, <em>Thalassiosira weissflogii</em>, and <em>Odontella aurita</em>.</p>
本研究以圣巴巴拉海峡(Santa Barbara Channel)春季水华优势硅藻为对象开展培养实验,旨在探究氮(N)、硅(Si)营养胁迫对硅藻生产力水平及溶解有机物(Dissolved Organic Matter, DOM)化学组成的影响(相关实验数据详见<a href="http://www.bco-dmo.org/dataset/518427">BIB Experiments数据集</a>)。随后通过再矿化实验,评估了细菌自然群落利用硅、氮限制条件下产生的溶解有机物的能力。本次再矿化实验所涉及的硅藻物种包括:<em>马里诺斯凯藻(Skeletonema marinoi)</em>、<em>社会角毛藻(Chaetoceros socialis)</em>、<em>威氏海链藻(Thalassiosira weissflogii)</em>以及<em>耳状齿藻(Odontella aurita)</em>。
