This project utilized 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing to characterize the fecal microbiome in a mouse model of circadian rhythm disruption induced by continuous light exposure, which simulates shift-work conditions. The study aimed to investigate how circadian disruption exacerbates Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD) and to explore the role of specific gut microbes, such as Akkermansia muciniphila, in this process. Sequencing was performed on the Illumina platform. The findings link circadian disruption to altered gut microbiota composition and impaired bile acid-FXR signaling, providing insights into potential microbial interventions for MASLD.
