SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES IN THE FORMATION AND INTERPRETATION OF ENGLISH AND UZBEK ABBREVIATIONS

This research work focuses on the similarities and differences in the formation and interpretation of abbreviations in English and Uzbek languages. It examines abbreviations as important lexical units widely used in modern media discourse, scientific communication, and everyday language. The study analyzes the structural types of abbreviations, including acronyms, initialisms, shortenings, and clipped forms, and explains how they are formed in both languages. Special attention is given to the linguistic mechanisms behind abbreviation creation, such as morphological reduction, phonetic simplification, and graphical representation. In addition, the research compares how abbreviations are interpreted and understood by speakers of English and Uzbek, highlighting the role of context, cultural factors, and language-specific rules in decoding meaning. It also explores the influence of globalization, technology, and media on the increasing use of abbreviations in both languages. The results of the study show both common patterns and significant differences in abbreviation formation and usage between English and Uzbek. The findings contribute to a better understanding of lexical development and cross-linguistic communication in modern linguistics.本研究聚焦于英语与乌兹别克语中缩略语的构形与解读差异。研究将缩略语视为现代媒体话语、学术交流与日常语言中广泛使用的重要词汇单元，并对其展开系统考察。本研究分析了缩略语的结构类型，包括首字母拼音词（acronyms）、首字母拼读词（initialisms）、截缩词（shortenings）与截短形式（clipped forms），并阐释了两种语言中缩略语的构形方式。研究特别关注缩略语生成背后的语言机制，如形态缩减、语音简化及图形化表征手段。此外，本研究对比了英语与乌兹别克语使用者对缩略语的解读与理解路径，着重阐明语境、文化因素与语言专属规则在语义解码过程中的作用。本研究同时探讨了全球化、科技与媒体对两种语言中缩略语使用频次攀升的影响。研究结果显示，英语与乌兹别克语在缩略语的构形与使用方面既存在共性模式，也存在显著差异。本研究结果有助于深化现代语言学领域对词汇发展与跨语言交流的认知。
