A single-cell transcriptome of the developing visceral muscle of Drosophila melanogaster embryo.

The diversity of cell types and regulatory states in the developing Drosophila embryo remains unknown. Moreover, transcriptional programs controlling partitioning of the mesoderm, specification of visceral mesoderm and its muscle progenitors and formation of the circular muscles is challenging using traditional transcriptomics. We present a single-cell transcriptome atlas of the entire Drosophila melanogaster embryo, plus a comprehensive dataset of the stage 10-13 visceral musculature.
