Genome sequences of isolates from synthetic gut bacterial communities for functional microbiome research in mouse models

Mouse models are a powerful and frequently used tool in gut microbiota research. A common practice in mouse studies is the use of defined genetic backgrounds and absence of specific pathogens, but the variability in the composition of the gut microbiota have been shown to affect the reproducibility of mouse microbiota studies and their conclusions. Currently, efforts to standardize mouse microbiota composition are in place. Here, we sequenced, assembled and annotated genomes of bacterial strains isolated from mouse models with defined gut microbiota.
