Metagenomes and Virome Antarctic timeseries (RaTS)

We sequenced the metagenome and the virome collected at the Rothera time series site (RaTS), Ryder Bay, western Antarctic Peninsula. Samples were collected at 15m depth over the productive seasons of 2018 and 2019. The metagenome (>0.22um) was collected onto a 0.22um, Sterivex filter and the DNA was extracted using the qiagen powersoil kit. The virome (<0.22um) was collected using the iron chloride precipitation method (Hurwitz et al. 2013). A/E glass and 0.22um PES pre-filtrations removed the cellular fraction from the virome samples. After these were precipitated, collected and resuspended, the free-DNA was removed with DNase I. Illumina libraries were prepared using the TruSeq Nano DNA kit and sequenced with the platform NovaSeq6000 (2x150bp).
