The microbiota in the lung of corpses recovered from water

To advance our knowledge of lung microbiota in submerged corpses and its applicability to drowning diagnosis and PMSI estimation in forensic investigation, mice were used to establish drowning and postmortem submersion models in the present study, and the remains were maintained in freshwater for 0 to 14 days. The microbial community signature was captured by 16S rDNA high-throughput sequencing.
