XMM-Newton observations of blazars in outburst

We ask for 4 TOO observations of 50 ks each to observe 4 blazars, conditional tostringent and well defined triggering criteria based on 1) hard or soft Xraybrightening; or 2) TeV brightening; or GeV brightening or 3) opticalbrightening. With the XMMNewton observations of blazars in flaring state wewill investigate their Xray spectra evolution over a timescale from minutes tohours. This will provide r^ant information on the radiation mechanisms inextragalactic relativistic jets. XMMNewton TOO prompted by Swift/BAT orINTEGRAL or GLAST or TeV telescope would provide for the first time Xrayobservations of flaring blazars activated by very high energy triggers.
