FAIRsharing record for: SONAR-netCDF4 - a convention for the storage of sonar data in netCDF4-formatted computer files

This FAIRsharing record describes: A convention for the storage and exchange of sonar data in netCDF4-formatted computer files with the aim of facilitating the use of sonar data for research and survey purposes.

Version 1 was developed to store data from fisheries omni-sonars. Version 2 added the storage of data from other acoustic equipment, including echosounders, multi-beam bathymetric sonars, and acoustic doppler current profilers, as well as the means to store processed acoustic data from such sensors.

The convention was developed by the Topic Group on Defining a data format for omnidirectional fisheries sonar, part of the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea's (ICES) Working Group on Fisheries Acoustics, Science, and Technology (WGFAST).
