Genome sequencing and assembly of multiple members of the Fusarium fujikuroi species complex. Fusarium fujikuroi species complex

The Fusarium fujikuroi species complex includes multiple species that are an economic and health concern because they can cause disease on crop plants and can produce mycotoxins in infected crops. The goals of this project are to: 1) determine the phylogenetic relationships of members of the FFSC; 2) to characterize the diversity of secondary metabolite biosynthetic genes, including those responsible for mycotoxin synthesis, within the complex, and 3) to determine the evolutionary processes that have contributed to the current distribution of the biosynthetic genes.
