The Bunnerong Power Station was originally commissioned by the Sydney City Council and it commenced operations in 1929. Following the establishment of the Sydney County Council in 1935 the station became part of its generating facilities. Responsibility for the operation of Bunnerong was transferred to the Electricity Commission after its creation in 1950. The station ceased all operations in 1979 when the last of the boilers was closed downThis series is comprised of a collection of photographs relating to the station’s construction, operation and staff. They were mounted and framed by the Bunnerong staff as a record of the station’s history. Most of them are small photographs with no negative available. They provide a valuable record of the history of this station and its staff. Due to conservation issues the photographs were removed from the frames and rehoused into a number of albums.
