Le Marchand de Masques (the mask vendor) is a larger than life bronze sculpture by Zacharie Astruc (1835-1907). From the information on the accompanying plaque, the vendor is' present[ing] the masks of [Victor] Hugo, [Jean-Baptiste-Camille] Corot, [Alexandre] Dumas fils, Hector [Berlioz], [Jean-Baptiste] Carpeaux, [Gabriel] Faure, [Eugene] Delacroix, [Honoré de] Balzac and [Jules-Amédée] Barbey d'Aurevilly; a piece to commemorate and applaud alll great artists, sculptors, painters, composers and writers of France and to celebrate the culture of the country. This object is part of Scan The World.
