Mechanism of phagocytosis-like engulfment of a novel bacterium. Candidatus Uabimicrobium amorphum strain:SRT547

Candidatus Uab amorphum is a marine bacterium with phagocytosis-like engulfment. This bacterium belongs to Plnactomycetes, however it has some eukaryotic features, e.g., amoeba-like cell form, cytoskeleton, and membrane-involved engulfment. The study goal is to understand mechanisms and evolution of such an eukaryotic feature. Particularly, we are focusing on mechanism of the phagocytosis-like engulfment.
