Subcapsular sinus macrophages promote melanoma metastasis in the sentinel lymph nodes by releasing IL-1α, which upregulates STAT3 signalling in the tumour

We analyzed the expression of multiple genes involved in immunosuppressive and exhaustion pathways in sentinel lymph nodes (sLN) isolated from mice previously depleted of macrophages (CLL treated) and we compared them with non-depleted animals. We profiled the expression of genes related to immunosuppression and immune exhaustion in metastatic LN from mice depleted for macrophages (4 samples) in comparison to untreated mice (4 samples) and mice without tumor (4 samples).
