About Dataset This dataset contains the list of automotive safety agencies and their recall search tools (where available) for countries with more than 500 000 passenger cars sold in 2024, according to the sales statistics from the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA), sorted from most to least. The only exceptions are Thailand, Argentina and Canada with numbers below this threshold. Context When a vehicle or its components fail to meet the safety standards or pose safety risks, a product safety recall (automobile recall) is issued by its producer (car manufacturer), overseen by a governmental body responsible for road safety. The dataset below lists the official bodies and their portals for searching for automotive recall campaigns (open data) for public interest. Content The dataset fields are: country_code - the 2-letter code of a country according to the ISO 3166 body_abbr - common abbreviation of the governmental body, if known body - governmental department or agency, responsible for vehicle recalls; often follows the structure of "ministry > department / secretariat / directorate" link - the link to the official page of the body recall_data_link - the link to the page with the recall data, e.g. portal with search, dataset, or API comment - additional information about the available data or body Updates v1.0.0 - 2026.02.13 - Initial Dataset The uploaded dataset has up-to-date information.
