Land Basemap Dukes County

Town polygon boundary file for all towns in Dukes County. The interior boundaries are NOT based on Survey Points. The coastline and pond bounds are from the 1:25,000 Hydrography Arcs from the early 2000s. This file has been used since 2003 for many GIS analyses. The polys are dissolved so there is almost one polygon for every town. Exceptions to this are Chilmark (Nomans Land is it's own poly), Gosnold (each island is it's own poly), Edgartown (Chappaquiddick is it's own poly). Also in Edgartown, the section of the Katama Breach and Wasque Erosion have been identified. These latter two areas were just on-screen digitized and are a very generalized interpretation for cartographic display purposes. The breach comes and goes as does erosion and accretion. Including the breach and Wasque erosion polygons in the cartographic display is up to the end-user.
