NMT Valles Caldera Groundwater Data, Site 19 (Sep 11, 2010 - Nov 19, 2011)

With growing concerns about declining snowpack, warmer temperatures, and land
use changes, it is becoming increasingly important to determine the sources that
contribute to surface water. In western states, such as New Mexico, most of the
surface water is derived from mountainous watersheds. However, the interaction
between the groundwater and the surface water within these mountain systems is
poorly understood.

随着积雪储量衰减、气温升高与土地利用变化等问题日益受到关注，明确地表水（surface water）的补给来源已成为愈发关键的研究议题。在美国西部各州（如新墨西哥州），绝大多数地表水资源均源自山地流域（mountainous watersheds）。然而，当前学界对这类山地系统内地下水（groundwater）与地表水的交互作用机制仍知之甚少。
