Dietary data and related factors to children living in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

This dataset was used to examine dietary patterns and child, parental and societal factors associated with overweight and obesity among children aged 9-11 years old in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

The data was collected from 221 fifth grade children from four primary schools across four regions in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from July 2020 and Sept-Oct 2020. The information about factors associated with childhood overweight and obesity was self-administrated by parents at home. A sub-sample of 124 children with dietary data from 3 non-consecutive 24-hour recalls were used to explored dietary patterns using Principal Component Analysis. 本数据集旨在探究越南胡志明市9至11岁儿童超重与肥胖相关的饮食模式，以及儿童、家长与社会层面的关联影响因素。
本数据集的收集工作于2020年7月及2020年9-10月开展，样本来自越南胡志明市四个区域的四所小学，总计221名五年级学生。与儿童超重肥胖相关的影响因素信息由家长在家中自行完成填报。其中124名儿童构成子样本，其饮食数据通过3次非连续24小时膳食回顾法采集，研究人员采用主成分分析（Principal Component Analysis）对该子样本的饮食模式进行探究。本数据集的详细收集流程与研究方法可查阅发表于《Maternal and Child Nutrition》期刊的相关学术论文。
