How AI and Social Media Shape Student Achievement Through Smart Learning

Abstract— In the JABODETABEK area, this research examines the effect of the use of AI tools and social media on higher education student’s academic performance, with mediating moderation of smart learning. Findings Based on cross-sectional survey data collected from a sample of 431 students and the development of the structural equation model metrics using PLS-SEM, it is found that AI tool use significantly and positively predicts academic performance, with social media use also having a positive direct impact. Smart learning appears to partially mediate the influence of both AI and social media on academic performance. These results imply that AI and social media may serve to improve learning performance directly or indirectly (through smart learning activities), and therefore, the higher education should propose policies and training sessions that encourage using these tools in an organized manner. Longitudinal or intervention follow-ups along with exploration of moderators, such as digital literacy and institutional support, are suggested in this study.

摘要— 本研究以雅加达茂物丹格朗勿加泗（JABODETABEK）都市区为研究区域，探讨人工智能（Artificial Intelligence）工具使用与社交媒体（Social Media）使用对高等教育学生学业表现的影响，并以智能学习（Smart Learning）作为中介变量。基于从431名学生样本中收集的横断面调查数据，以及采用偏最小二乘结构方程模型（PLS-SEM）构建的结构方程模型指标，研究发现：人工智能工具使用对学业表现具有显著正向预测作用，社交媒体使用同样存在正向直接影响；智能学习对人工智能与社交媒体作用于学业表现的路径均起到部分中介效应。上述结果表明，人工智能与社交媒体既可直接提升学习表现，也可通过智能学习活动实现间接提升，因此高等教育机构应制定相关政策与培训课程，以鼓励有序使用此类工具。本研究建议开展纵向追踪或干预性后续研究，并探索数字素养、制度支持等调节变量。
