Selection of Han dynasty paronomastic glosses

This is a digitized collection of the paronomastic glosses found in the appendix of W. South Coblin, A handbook of Eastern Han sound glosses, Hong Kong: Chinese univ. Press, 1983. Whereas Coblin used the Old and Middle Chinese reconstructions of Li Fang-Kuei, this dataset uses the Late Han reconstructions of Axel Schuessler (Minimal Old Chinese and Later Han Chinese: A Companion to Grammata Serica Recensa, Honolulu: University of Hawai‘i Press, 2009). The data set is incomplete, ending mid way through Xu Shen, and many characters were not found in Schuessler 2009.

本数据集为柯蔚南（W. South Coblin）《东汉音义手册》（A handbook of Eastern Han sound glosses）附录中收录的谐音训诂（paronomastic glosses）数字化汇编。柯蔚南采用李方桂（Li Fang-Kuei）的上古及中古汉语构拟体系，而本数据集则采用阿克塞尔·舒斯勒（Axel Schuessler）的东汉晚期汉语构拟体系，相关成果见于《最简上古汉语与后汉汉语：<汉文典>补编》（Minimal Old Chinese and Later Han Chinese: A Companion to Grammata Serica Recensa），檀香山：夏威夷大学出版社，2009年。本数据集尚未完备，收录内容中断于许慎《说文解字》的章节中途，且有大量汉字未见于舒斯勒2009年的研究成果。
