IPA craft beer yeast strains genome sequencing and assembly

In the craft beer industry, ingredients such as hops and grains are highly variable, but the yeast strains used are remarkably the same. This is particularly true of the recently popularized style called New England IPA. Understanding the underlying genetics of the strains used to produce this style could inform strain selection and development. Plummeting sequencing costs and new long read sequencing technologies can enable genomics of yeast at low cost. Here, we present draft genome assemblies of two strains from New England IPA style beers, US-05 and Citrus A20.
