Irish Language Schools (Gaelscoileanna)

Using data sourced from Gaeloideachas, I created a map of all the primary & post-primary Gaelscoileanna, or Irish-medium schools, in Ireland (as of 2023). I added the metadata for education level in order to make this dataset more useful. In addition to splitting the schools by education level, the data set also includes denomination of the schools. All of the schools are geocoded using street address, city, and county. There is high potential for using this data set for showing where future primary/post-primary institutions may be established. Further, information such as religious denomination may further show where certain demographics are underserved when accessing an open, welcoming space to learn the Irish language. Other details are preserved from the original Gaeloideachas data set, including school names and some administrative details of the schools.

Gaeloideachas is an Irish-language organization focused on promoting the education of Irish across the island of Ireland.
