Share of poverty in households in Uruguay 2023, by region and gender headship

In 2023, households headed by women in Uruguay had a higher prevalence of poverty than those headed by men. This difference was particularly pronounced in the capital, Montevideo, where 10.4 percent of female-headed households were in poverty, compared with about six percent of male households.
