Butyricicoccus pullicaecorum is a Clostridium cluster IV butyrate producing bacterium, that holds promising potential as a probiotic, to target microbial dysbiosis in gastrointestinal disorders like inflammatory bowel disease. Additionally, a strain from the bacterial species has been used as feed supplementation for broiler chickens in the prevention of necrotic enteritis and to optimize animal performance. To investigate the safety of Butyricicoccus pullicaecorum and to explore its probiotic properties , whole genome sequencing was performed.
