The dataset ‘coal mines’ shows the thirteen mining seats that the Netherlands has known. The oldest was the Domaniale mine in Kerkrade which already produced in the 19th century. The latter was put into production in 1928.
At the end of 1974 the last coal was removed from the Limburg soil and the last mine closed.
The map is based on data from the website De Mijnen.nl, made available on 11-4-2016.
