Recent studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of using immunological techniques for the identification of blood residues on archaeological materials (Briuer 1976; Broderick 1979; Downs 1985; Hyland e£ al. 1990; Newman 1990; Newman and Julig 1989; Shafer and Holloway 1979). These studies show that the species of origin on tools can be identified to at least the Family level. Such work offers a new and exciting means to determine the function of artifacts and increase our knowledge of prehistoric subsistence strategies.

(Briuer 1976; Broderick 1979; Downs 1985; Hyland et al. 1990; Newman 1990; Newman and Julig 1989; Shafer and Holloway 1979)。
