The Lowy Institute Poll surveys are designed to capture and track any long-term changes in Australian public opinions on a broad range of foreign policy issues. This is the third in the series and repeats many of the questions asked in earlier polls (ADA No 01084 and 01114). Variables include attitudes and opinions on: Australia's economic performance; Australian defence and international security; importance of different foreign policy interests, values and goals; government responsibility in providing assistance to Australians in need abroad; feelings towards other countries; migrant worker schemes; importance of the ANZUS alliance; threats from the outside world; military involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan; Iran and nuclear weapons; international trade; the Unites States of America; climate change, and; Australia and New Zealand relations. Background variables include age, gender, religious affiliation, income, occupation and highest level of education.
