Photo Archive of In Situ Benthic Imagery from the Lophelia Coral Conservation Area

The Lophelia Coral Conservation Area (LCCA) was established in 2004 to protect the only known cold-water coral reef in eastern Canada. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of the closure (Beazley et al. 2021), benthic fauna were quantified from underwater images taken in 2003, 2009, and 2015 from each of three different strata: 1) inside the Lophelia reef footprint (LRF; Inside Reef), 2) inside the LCCA but outside of the LRF (Inside Closure), and 3) outside of the LCCA (Outside Closure) (Korabik et al. 2021). In addition, photos and video imagery were collected in 2002, 2007 and in 2018 (Beazley et al. 2019) and are included although they were not analyzed in Beazley et al. (2021). Here we provide the original photos for each of these strata/years in support of future monitoring of this area. Not all of these photos have been analyzed. In 2022 the LCCA was incorporated into the Eastern Canyons Conservation Area (ECCA). Version 3 includes an update to the Photo Archive Metadata to include a column indicating whether the photo was analyzed or not in Beazley et al. (2021). Additionally a spreadsheet of the abundance of each taxon per analyzed photo is included. Taxon names are matched with the images presented in Korabik et al. (2021). 洛菲利亚珊瑚保护区（Lophelia Coral Conservation Area, LCCA）于2004年设立，旨在保护加拿大东部已知唯一的冷水珊瑚礁。为评估该封禁措施的有效性（Beazley等，2021），研究人员对2003年、2009年及2015年采集的水下图像中的底栖动物群进行了定量分析，采样覆盖三个不同层级：1）洛菲利亚珊瑚礁覆盖区（Lophelia reef footprint, LRF；礁内区域）内部；2）洛菲利亚珊瑚保护区内但位于礁覆盖区外的区域（保护区内礁外区域）；3）洛菲利亚珊瑚保护区外的区域（保护区外区域）（Korabik等，2021）。
此外，研究团队还在2002年、2007年及2018年采集了照片与视频影像（Beazley等，2019），尽管这些数据未在Beazley等（2021）的研究中得到分析，但本数据集仍纳入了全部相关影像，以支持该区域未来的监测工作。本数据集提供了上述各采样层级及各年份的原始照片。并非所有上述照片均已完成分析。
2022年，洛菲利亚珊瑚保护区被并入东部峡谷保护区（Eastern Canyons Conservation Area, ECCA）。
本数据集第3版更新了照片档案元数据，新增一列用于标注对应照片是否在Beazley等（2021）的研究中得到分析。此外，数据集还包含一份数据表，汇总了每张已分析照片中各分类群的丰度信息。分类群名称与Korabik等（2021）展示的图像中的命名保持一致。
