Towards autonomous public transportation: Attitudes and intentions of the local population

A stated preference survey has been employed, in order to better understand customers’ sentiments and willingness to use driverless buses. We designed the survey to give insights into the perceptions and expectations of inhabitants of a medium sized town in Germany’s Lower Rhine Region, which is on the brink of establishing an autonomous bus line. Like most survey studies on AV acceptance, we rely on a convenience sample. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the questionnaire was administered online only. In total, 435 people participated.
