Genetic variation of brown planthopper, Nilaparvata lugens. Nilaparvata lugens

Brown planthopper, Nilaparvata lugens, is a migratory insect pest on rice. N. lugens is not able to overwinter in East Asia such as China and Japan, but it migrates from northern part of Vietnam as overwintering area. On the other hands, it is considered there is another local N. lugens population in southern part of Vietnam and neighboring Cambodia because of the different characteristic from those of the north Vietnam and East Asia. This study aims to clarify the genetic differences, focusing on single nucleotide polymorphisms, of N. lugens by double-digest RAD-seq using 184 specimens from 7 locations in Vietnam, Cambodia and Japan.
