Economic Growth and Sustainable Development in Africa: An Application of Advanced Statistical and Econometric Methods

This study investigates the relationships between economic growth, sustainable development, and environmental dynamics in Africa from 1960 to 2016. Using statistical and econometric techniques, we analyze the interaction between growth, physical capital, and human capital within the augmented Solow model. A static, dynamic, and spatial approach is applied to examine the conditional convergence of African economies. Additionally, we explore the Kuznets Environmental Curve, assessing the relationship between economic growth and environmental degradation, particularly CO₂ emissions. The findings highlight a continent with significant economic potential, influenced by both positive and negative effects of globalization, including the challenges of greenhouse gas emissions and income inequality. The study offers new insights into the complex relationship between economic growth and sustainability in Africa. Keywords: Economic Growth, CO₂ Emissions, Income Inequality, Sustainable Development, Africa.本研究考察1960年至2016年间非洲地区经济增长、可持续发展与环境动态之间的关联。本研究采用统计与计量经济学方法，在扩展索洛模型（augmented Solow model）框架下分析增长、物质资本与人力资本之间的交互作用。 本研究采用静态、动态及空间计量方法，考察非洲经济体的条件收敛特征。此外，本研究还对库兹涅茨环境曲线（Kuznets Environmental Curve）展开探讨，评估经济增长与环境退化之间的关联，尤以二氧化碳排放（CO₂ emissions）为代表。 研究结果显示，非洲作为具备可观经济潜力的大陆，其发展受到全球化正负效应的双重影响，面临温室气体排放与收入不平等等诸多挑战。 本研究为解析非洲地区经济增长与可持续发展之间的复杂关联提供了全新视角。 关键词：经济增长、二氧化碳排放、收入不平等、可持续发展、非洲。
