Rotation of a locking component due to a detent torque is reduced without reducing the ease of locking and unlocking for a user. A power tool has a housing (15a)， an electric motor (20) which is located in the interior of the housing (15a) and has a permanent magnet (23a)， a shaft (24) which rotates about an axis relative to the housing (15a ) is rotatable for transmitting power from the electric motor (20)， a locking member (51)， which is movable between a locking position and an unlocking position in a non-energized state of the electric motor (20) and is engageable in the locking position for locking with the shaft (24)， and a pushing member (53) which the locking member (51) in applying a force to the locking position in a direction opposite to an axial torque， caused by the permanent magnet (23a) and applied to the locking member (51).
