River red gum hollow-bearing tree data - by tree

Data used in publication "<i>Tree hollow decline in new forest reserves with a long history of logging"</i>. Data were collected in river red gum forests in Murray Valley National Park, Australia, between 2015 and 2016. Data were collected from 22 sites, which were equally replicated among two long-term water availability classes (Site Quality, SQ1 higher long term flood frequency and taller trees than and SQ2). Each site consisted of three plots that were 2 hectares in size. Data include all trees containing at least one hollow with a minimum entrance size of 5 centimetres within a 2 hectare survey area. The diameter at breast height (dbh) was recorded, along with the number of visible hollows in each of three size classes (entrance size 5-10 cm, holl_5to10; entrance size 10-15 cm, holl_10to15; and entrance size greater than 15 cm, joll_15plus). Data also include whether the hollow-bearing tree was live or dead, and whether or not it had visible signs of ringbarking.
