The present invention relates to a method for covalently binding at least one amino acid， at least one peptide and/or at least one polypeptide to a cellulosic material comprising cellulose and/or cellulose derivatives comprising free hydroxyl groups comprising the steps of a) subjecting the cellulosic material to an aqueous solution， ionic liquids， deep eutectic solvents， organic solvents or mixtures， comprising at least one oxidizing agent and b) binding said at least one amino acid， at least one peptide and/or at least one polypeptide to said cellulosic material.
