Wadderin Sanctuary - Feral Cat, Rabbit and Kangaroo Control for Conservation

This project will engage skilled contractors to complement community activity in baiting, trapping and shooting of feral cats, rabbits and Western Grey Kangaroos to protect eight species of mammals and birds that have been re-introduced to Wadderin Wildlife Reserve. These include the Woylie (Bettongia penicillata), Red-tailed Phascogale (Phascogale calura), Banded Hare-wallaby (Lagostropus fasciatus), Western Brush Wallaby (Macropus irma), Malleefowl (Leipoa ocellata) and Bush Stone-curlew (Burhinus grallarius). The predator-proof fence of the enclosure will be maintained and success in reducing feral animal numbers will be monitored and evaluated.

本项目将聘请专业承包商，协助社区开展针对入侵野猫、野兔及西部灰袋鼠的诱饵诱杀、诱捕及射杀工作，以保护重新引入瓦德林野生动物保护区（Wadderin Wildlife Reserve）的八种哺乳类与鸟类物种。其中包括蓬尾袋鼬（Woylie, *Bettongia penicillata*）、红尾袋鼬（Red-tailed Phascogale, *Phascogale calura*）、带纹兔袋鼠（Banded Hare-wallaby, *Lagostropus fasciatus*）、西澳刷尾袋鼠（Western Brush Wallaby, *Macropus irma*）、塚雉（Malleefowl, *Leipoa ocellata*）以及大石鸻（Bush Stone-curlew, *Burhinus grallarius*）。本项目将维护该保护区的防捕食者围栏，并对入侵野生动物种群数量的消减成效开展监测与评估。
