Early 19th Century British Saber Oakeshott Collection Catalogue Number:OC 047 The sword is noted for its unique hilt with a Celtic inspired motif on the guard and unique "pipe-backed" bladed with large false edge fin. The blade was almost certainly a response to the dislike of the 1796 Heavy Cavalry sword that was issued as the model sword to the troops. This particular sword is marked with the seller Prosser's information in the ricasso. The known examples of the sword also show this mark, so it is sometimes referred to as the Prosser 1818/1819 model.
