Rusitec Bioreactor Metagenome

Using the RUSITEC bioreactor system as a model for the bovine rumen microbiota, we investigated the effect of glyphosate as well as two products containing glyphosate on the taxonomic structure of the microbiota using 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Concentrations used for glyphosate or its products added to the bioreactor media were 0.1 mg/L, 1 mg/L and 10 mg/L and compared to controls without added glyphosate. Bioreactors were run for 16 days with treatments beginning on day 8.
