Translation (Rita Seng Mai) I would like to tell you about the past lifestyles of the Kachin people. The place where the Kachin people lived. There was a lake between Israel and Egypt. Through China, we passed Mogolia and Tibet. When we arrived in the hilly region of Tibet, we found salt. Then we settled down there. Since the Jinghpaw or Kachin people lived in the place where salt was found, we got the name Jinghpaw. (Jum hpaw to Jing hpaw.) Later, we travelled through India and arrived at Mali Hku Majoi. When we were there, we lived in caves. At that time, there was a saying, "Katsin mung shan naw sha, kata raw sha naw raw la." It meant we didn't know that we should wear clothes. And we didn't have fire, so we just ate everything raw. After staying for some time, we stayed in Gumshu Gumwa Cave. After that, we arrived at Hkranghku Majoi Nrang Hka Tsaw. And we lived in Wa Htam Cave. After that place, we arrived at Hkumpu Yang village. And we celebrated Kumran Manau there. Some Kachin people went to India, some went to China or Chin State, and some went to Shan State. We got to know the existing numbers of Majoi Shingran. At the 100-year Jubilee of Jaw Masat ceremony in Nawng Nan and at the Manau festival in Myitkyina, we got to know that there were six Majoi Shingra. This is how the Kachin people descended.
