Data Summary: This repository contains the data, notebooks, and scripts used to generate the ACES compact continuum source catalog. Below we include a description of each file, as well as information on where to locate files found in external repositories. Description of files: alpha_aces_meerkat.fits: The spectral index map generated from the ACES and MeerKAT continuum ACES_Compact_Source_Catalog_v3.ipynb: Jupyter notebook used to perform the intial dendrogram source extraction. ACES_TGIF_v2.ipynb: Jupyter notebook with TGIF fitting implementation ACES_Zooniverse.ipynb: Jupyter notebook used to transform the Zooniverse classification data export into a format that can be readily manipulated in Python. CMZoom_percent_recovery.ipynb: Jupyter notebook used to calculate the perentage of CMZoom catalog sources recovered across different versions of the ACES continuum source catalog cut using a range of compactness scores. ACES_catalog_update_pub.ipynb: Jupyter notebook that takes the the Zooniverse data export and converts it into a science ready catalog. This notebook is also used to identify cross-matches between the CMZoom and ACES detections and make spectral index measurements. ACES_crossmatch_catalog.py: Python script that cross-matches ACES catalog sources with sources from other catalogs at different wavelengths. This also incorporates our internal identification of MeerKAT cross-matches. ACES_catalog_analysis_pub.ipynb: Jupyter notebook where we finalize the "full" and "filtered" catalogs and convert them into proper machine readable formats and printable latex format. This is also the notebook used to generate radius and column density histograms for the paper. aces-compact-source-removal-classifications_FINAL.csv: Classification data export from Zooniverse. Used in ACES_Zooniverse.ipynb notebook. 12m_continuum_commonbeam_circular_reimaged_mosaic.fits: The pre-release version of the ACES 12m-only continuum map. This version has an angular resolution of 2.56'', whereas the official data release version has an angular resolution of 2.3''. We include the pre-release version here for reproducibility reasons, however if you are interested in analyzing the ACES continuum data products, please download the official data release versions from https://almascience.nrao.edu/alma-data/lp/aces-group-level-data. 12m_continuum_commonbeam_circular_reimaged_maskedrms_mosaic.fits: The pre-release version of the ACES continuum noise map. This was generated from the pre-release version of "12m_continuum_commonbeam_circular_reimaged_mosaic.fits". 12m_continuum_commonbeam_circular_reimaged_mosaic_fullmask.fits: The masked version of 12m_continuum_commonbeam_circular_reimaged_mosaic.fits. This map was masked to exclude the Sgr B2 and the circumnuclear disk region as well as the edge of the mosaic. It is used to remove dendrogram detections within those regions. Some of the files used in the above Jupyter notebooks can be found in external data repositories: The column density map (higalcmz_column_density_inner40deg.fits) and its corresponding dendrogram mask (higalcmz_dendrogram_mask.fits) from Battersby et al. 2025a&b are found in the following Harvard Dataverse repository (https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/7DOJG5). The MeerKAT continuum mosaic (meerkat_hdu_regrid_v2.fits) is a regridded version of the official public release version, found here https://doi.org/10.48479/fyst-hj47. The primary beam corrected CMZoom continuum mosaic (CMZoom_continuum_pbcor_masked.fits) is a regridded and masked version of the file "CMZoom_continuum_pbcor.fits" found at the following Harvard Dataverse repository: https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/MLQ94K. This file is masked so that it only includes the area of the map that overlaps with the ACES mosaic used for source extraction. The "robust" (catalog_robust.fits) and "complete" (catalog_complete.fits) versions of the CMZoom compact continuum source catalog and their corresponding dendrogram mask files (dendrogram_mask_robust.fits & dendrogram_mask_complete.fits) can be found at the following Harvard Dataverse repository: https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/RDE1CH.
