Trifluoroacetate Lowers Plasma Lipid Levels and Reduces the Development of Atherosclerosis in Mice. Mus musculus strain:LDLr -/-

We discovered that oral or intraperitoneal administration of TFA brings about dramatic reductions in plasma cholesterol and triglyceride levels in high fat-fed low density lipoprotein receptor (LDLr)-null mice. TFA administration reduced the development of atherosclerotic lesions in high fat-fed LDLr-null mice and apolipoprotein E (apoE)-null mice.
