The map shows the mean potential need for irrigation (in mm) calculated from observation data for the 30-year period 1971-2000.
Irrigation requirement is the mean amount of irrigation within the growing season (April-September) required to maintain 40 % usable field capacity (nFK) in the effective root space (nFCs). The average amount of irrigation is calculated for an average of the fruit species winter wheat, winter barley, winter barley with intermediate fruit, summer barley, corn, sugar beet and potatoes.
