Transcriptome analysis of Coffea canephora somatic embyogenesis

Paired-end raw reads were obtained from nine key stages of somatic embryogenesis in Coffea canephora. As a control, RNA was sequenced from the second and third pair of leaves of in vitro-grown plants cultivated in MS medium. For the treatment, leaves were collected from seedlings grown in MS medium supplemented with NAA and kinetin. Induction was performed in liquid medium supplemented with BA. The detailed analysis of the primary transcriptional responses that occur during the SE of C. canephora helps us to clarify how auxins and cytokinins orchestrate the integration of different networks of plant metabolism and lead to the development of somatic embryos.
