Water depth, acoustic backscatter, and other data collected from Nancy Foster and Fugro LADS Mark II Airborne System in Caribbean Sea and US Virgin Islands - Shoals from 2011-03-29 to 2011-04-16 (NCEI Accession 0131858)

The Center for Coastal Monitoring and Assessment (CCMA) completed its eighth year of an ongoing scientific research mission on board the NOAA Ship Nancy Foster from March 29 to April 16, 2011. The objective of this project was to collect a multibeam bathymetry dataset with 100 percent seafloor ensonification, multibeam backscatter, and airborne LiDAR bathymetry suitable for seafloor characterization in high-priority conservation areas. This report applies to the Nancy Foster MBES surveys W00216 and W00217 in the insular shelf, south of St. Thomas and St. John, and airborne LiDAR surveys of the northern shoals of the US Virgin Islands, including Buck Island and Salt River, St. Croix.

海岸监测与评估中心（Center for Coastal Monitoring and Assessment，简称CCMA）于2011年3月29日至4月16日期间，搭乘美国国家海洋和大气管理局（National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration，简称NOAA）“南希·福斯特”号科考船，完成了其持续科研任务的第八年度工作。本项目的核心目标为采集一套可实现100%海底声波覆盖的多波束测深（multibeam bathymetry）数据集，同步采集多波束反向散射（multibeam backscatter）与机载激光雷达测深（airborne LiDAR bathymetry）数据，以支撑高优先级保护区的海底特征刻画工作。本报告涵盖两项勘测任务：一是“南希·福斯特”号在圣托马斯（St. Thomas）与圣约翰（St. John）以南岛架开展的多波束测深系统（Multibeam Echo Sounder，简称MBES）航次W00216与W00217；二是美属维尔京群岛北部浅滩（涵盖巴克岛与圣克罗伊岛盐河区域）的机载激光雷达勘测。
